On April 6 2015 PROFESSOR R. GRAHAM COOKS, Henry Bohn Hass Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University will present the Eighteenth Annual Robert W. Murray Lecture. Details will be forthcoming.
On May 4, 2015 DR. MICHAEL GROANING, BA 1995, MS 1997, Associate Director CMC, and Alliance Manager, Endocyte Inc., in Lafayette, IN will present the 28th Annual Distinguished Alumni Lecture.
His title is: "An Unexpected Journey: From Benton Hall to Basel and Everywhere Else in Between"
- ALEXEI V. DEMCHENKO was the recipient of the 2014 St. Louis Award given by the St. Louis section of the ACS. The Award was presented at the St. Louis Award Banquet held at the Glen Echo Country Club on Saturday October 18. It was preceded by the Award Symposium, "Frontiers in Modern Glycosciences", held in the afternoon in Benton Hall.

HONORARY DEGREE FOR DEPARTMENT ALUMNUS. :On Saturday May 17, at the Spring Commencement, Dr. Gary S. Jacob, BS 1969, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree. The weekend began by Gary visiting the department and presenting an excellent lecture based on his experience in industry (Big Pharma) followed by a second career in Small Pharma. He is now Chairman and CEO of Synergy Pharmaceuticals Inc., New York, NY., and on Friday afternoon he presented the lecture: "Drug Discovery & Development 101: From the benchplace to the marketplace; and other ruminations on one UMSL Chemistry alumnus’ career in science".
